Quarterly Meetings 2010.

Please make a note that all our meetings in the future unless otherwise stated will take place at the  at the Museum of Cannock Chase.  They will this year change to all evening meetings as requested by some of our members that are employed. This will allow our members who  still work, to  enjoy these meeting. However this will be reviewed at the end of this seasons meetings

13th April. Members’ Meeting 6.30pm for 7pm. A Talk  about “John Robinson McLean.” will be given by Mr Ron Bradbury

6th July. Members’ Meeting 6.30pm. Talk  on “The Great War Camps of Cannock Chase" will be given by Mr Ian Wyke

11th OctoberMembers’ Meeting  starting at 7.00pm Alan Dean with present a talk  on "The West Cannock Collieries Company Ltd" 1869 - 1982.

Please make an effort to attend and bring a college or the wife all our meetings are open to the general public admission is free.

Diary Dates

19th June.  Display of photographs of Brereton and Lea Hall by Ken Edwards & Mick Lucas.

                       From 10.00am till 4.00pm Day event.

                 

19th June. Great Wyrley historical society's first open day we will have a display there so lets see a good

                      turn out for this new historical groups first event

 

11th July.  Brereton Parish Heritage & Parish Council

 

                     At 5.00pm the unveiling of the first information sign, produced by the CCMHS to commemorate

                     the closed collieries of the Cannock Chase Coalfield will take place outside the Parish Rooms on

                     Brereton and Ravenhill park at Brereton. The unveiling of the Lea Hall information sign will be

                     carried out by the former Area Director of British Coals Central Area and first manager of Lea Hall

                     Colliery MR. J.W.Evans O.B.E

                     This will be followed by a Memorial Service to be held at St Michaels Parish Church Brereton at

                     6.00pm. This is to  commemorate 50th Anniversary of closure of Brereton Collieries and the

                     opening of Lea Hall colliery. Space is limited so be early.

 

23rd & 24th July. Chase Wakes Rugby Ground Sportsway Burntwood WS7 3PH

                    The society will be exhibiting a selection of mining photographs and memorabilia, plus sales of 

                    the society's books ONLY ON SATURDAY THE 24th. Please come along and support us at this

                    most excellent event, there are many other exhibits and displays to be seen here over the two days.
